Dallas is the largest city in the state of Texas. While the airline industry was experiencing a decline in operations because of the pandemic, Dallas international airport became the second busiest airport in 2021 with a passenger traffic of 62.5 million.

Let’s look at why Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport has become one of the busiest in the world.

Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport

The main airport serving the Dallas Metroplex is DFW International Airport. It is Texas’s largest airport and the second largest in the US. DFW airport soared last year on the strength of domestic leisure travelers in the United States, with a maximum of 62 million passengers. It surpassed other airports in the country such as Los Angeles and Chicago O’Hare, which rely on international passengers for a greater percentage of traffic.

Ranked As the World’s 2nd Busiest Airport

According to ACI, Dallas international airport served  over 62.5 million passengers in the year 2021, which has made it the world’s second busiest airport in terms of passenger volume. DFW increased by 58.7% in 2020 and intends to return to 2019 levels in the current year. The above increase reflects DFW’s collaboration with flight partners, broadening their airport services.

DFW focuses on customer experience to maintain its position as an industry leader, as the top airports in the US to improve service and with myraids of passenger services in the last two years. The Dallas Fort Worth airport has made many advanced methods to make passengers’ experiences more comfortable, such as ultraviolet-C lighting in the air vents for improving the quality of circulated air, and various other smart methods are being implemented to better serve customers at DFW.

For the second year in a row, the ACI named DFW the world’s greatest networked airport, with many easier options compared to other airline services. For the 3rd year in a row, DFW moved to the third busiest airport in terms of flights.

Family-Friendly Facilities at DFW

Play Areas: The McDonald’s Play Area in Terminal D, near Gate D8, has foam soft-play sculptures for the young ones. It also has a seating area nearby with charging outlets, which can be used by the parents to keep an eye on the kids. Children may also enjoy viewing the artwork throughout Dallas international airport and riding the free sky link around the airport.

Nursing Areas: Nursing facilities can be found in Terminal A at Gate A18, Terminal B at Gate B40, and Terminal E at Gate E14.

Lounges: Airline alliance lounge access is available to passengers holding first and business-class tickets or on a pay-per-use basis. A priority pass and some credit cards provide access to lounges as well. Apart from airline-branded lounges, DFW also has ‘The Centurion Lounge’, ‘The DFW Airport Travel Lounge’, and ‘The Club’ at upper level.

Founders’ Plaza: It is located on DFW airport property, and is a small park-like area popular with families and plane spotters, offering parking space, picnic tables, telescopes, historical information, a commemorative monument, and excellent views of aircraft taking off and landing.

Dallas Fort Worth International (DFW) Airport welcomes over 73 million passengers approximately each year, elevating DFW to the status of one of the world’s busiest superhub airports.
