India continued its strong performance at the Commonwealth Fencing Championships 2026 in Lagos, Nigeria, adding nine more medals after winning 17 medals on the opening day. The latest haul included three gold, two silver and four bronze medals.

The championships are being held from August 9 to 14, 2026, at Rugby School Lagos in Eko Atlantic, Victoria Island. Nigeria is hosting the event for the first time, and the 2026 edition marks the first time the Senior and Veteran Commonwealth Fencing Championships are being hosted in Africa.

India’s Latest Medal Winners 

Gold Medals

Karan Singh – Men’s Sabre

Karan Singh won gold in the senior men’s Sabre final against Australia’s Yoongi Shim. Karan initially trailed 7–11, but mounted a strong comeback to win the bout 15–12. 

Sherjin Shanthimol – Men’s Épée

Sherjin Shanthimol defeated second-seeded South African Pieter Kruger 15–6 in the men’s Épée final to secure the gold medal.

Tanishka Khatri – Women’s Épée

Tanishka Khatri won gold in the senior women’s Épée event. India swept the podium, with compatriot Khushi Dabhade taking silver and Prachi Lohan winning bronze. 

Silver Medals

Khushi Dabhade – Women’s Épée

Khushi Dabhade finished second behind Tanishka Khatri to win silver.

Aakhari – Women’s Sabre

Aakhari won silver in the individual women’s Sabre event, finishing behind England’s Brierley.

Bronze Medals

Tejas Patil – Men’s Foil

Tejas Patil won bronze in the senior men’s Foil event.

Prachi Lohan – Women’s Épée

Prachi Lohan secured bronze and shared third place with Australia’s Harrison Asley.

Shruti Joshi – Women’s Sabre

Shruti Joshi won bronze in the individual women’s Sabre competition.

Jefarlin – Women’s Sabre

Jefarlin also won bronze, giving India three medals in the individual women’s Sabre event. 

India had previously won 17 medals on the opening day. With the latest nine-medal haul, its reported tally reached 26 medals. 

Commonwealth Fencing Championships 2026 Schedule 

The championship is being held from August 9 to 14 and features U23, Senior, Veteran and wheelchair fencing competitions. The competition features three fencing weapons: 

• Épée
• Foil
• Sabre

The schedule is:

• August 9: U23 individual events and opening ceremony
• August 10: Senior individual events
• August 11: Senior individual events
• August 12: Senior team events
• August 13: Veteran individual events
• August 14: Veteran team events

The senior team competitions on August 12 give India further opportunities to add to its medal tally.

India’s latest results show strength across all three fencing weapons.

India has therefore won medals in all three weapons, Sabre, Épée and Foil, at the Commonwealth Fencing Championships 2026, with particularly strong performances in the women’s Épée and Sabre events.
