Most 16-month-olds are taking their first steps. Aarya is taking a very different path.

The Illinois toddler has already visited 34 of America’s 63 national parks. She is now on track to become the youngest person ever to visit them all.

The most surprising part? Her parents never planned to break a record.

It All Started With One Simple Decision

Akshay Sharma and Aparajita Rai wanted their daughter to grow up outdoors. They wanted weekends to mean hiking trails instead of shopping malls. So they packed their bags and started exploring America’s national parks. One trip became another. Before they knew it, Aarya had visited 15 national parks. That’s when everything changed.

A Stranger Asked a Question That Changed Their Journey

During one visit, a park ranger noticed how many parks Aarya had already explored. Then came an unexpected question.

“Have you thought about a Guinness World Record?”

The family hadn’t. But the idea stayed with them. Soon, they decided to keep going. Not just for the record, but for the experience.

More Than Halfway There

Today, Aarya has visited 34 national parks. She has seen towering mountains. She has watched waterfalls crash into rocky valleys. She has explored forests, deserts, and open landscapes that many adults have never seen. Next on the family’s list is Alaska. Several of America’s national parks are located there. Their goal is to finish the remaining 29 parks within the next two years.

One Quiet Moment Said It All

Out of every trip, one memory stands above the rest. At Yosemite National Park, Aarya sat in front of a waterfall. She didn’t get bored. She didn’t become restless. She simply watched the water. That moment changed her parents’ perspective. They realized that children can connect with nature much earlier than most people think.

Traveling With a Toddler Isn’t Always Easy

Every trip takes planning. Meals come first. Naps come first. Comfort comes first. Both parents work in the technology industry, so most adventures happen on weekends. If Aarya needs a break, the schedule changes. The destination can wait.

Real Goal Isn’t a World Record

Yes, the family has contacted Guinness World Records. Yes, they are documenting every park visit. But the record isn’t what matters most. Their biggest goal is much simpler. They want Aarya to grow up loving nature. They want her to stay curious. They want her to understand why these places deserve to be protected. If a world record comes along the way, that’s just the bonus.
