As the restrictions on international travel are being eased gradually, the airlines are inching towards rebuilding their worldwide network. Middle Eastern aviation giant Qatar Airways has announced its winter schedule, and the Doha-based carrier has plans to operate flights to 124 destinations around the world by the end of the year. These 124 destinations comprise 42 in Asia-Pacific, 10 in the Americas, 38 in Europe, 21 in Africa, and 13 in the Middle East. The airline stated that it currently serves more than 90 destinations throughout six continents. Along with expanding its current network to 124 destinations, Qatar intends to operate flights with high frequencies to these cities.
Revealing that the destinations included in their upcoming winter schedule are largely based on the booking trends observed during the COVID pandemic, Qatar’s CEO Akbar Al Baker said, “While no airline can predict with 100% certainty how the market will recover or future entry restrictions, our unrivalled experience accumulated by becoming the largest international carrier during this crisis uniquely positions us to build a realistic schedule of flights with confidence.”
He also said, “We are proud to be the global airline passengers trust to take them where they want to go safely and reliably. This trust begins by offering an honest schedule of flights that is realistic of the current market conditions and entry restrictions around the world.”
Akbar Al Baker further assured that in case of re-imposition of entry restrictions in the future or under unexpected circumstances when the carrier is compelled to postpone or cancel its scheduled flights, Qatar will be ready to assist its passengers with “the most flexible and generous options to reschedule their plans.”
Emphasizing that passengers’ trust is of utmost importance to them, he stated, “As we continue to rebuild our global network, we remain focused on providing seamless, safe and reliable connectivity to our millions of passengers and ensuring we continue to earn their trust every time they choose to fly with Qatar Airways.”
