How fast is Lufthansa’s new Starlink internet? 

Lufthansa describes the new connection as high-speed broadband internet capable of supporting applications that traditionally require a strong connection on the ground.

Passengers can use it for:

• Real-time collaboration
• Other high-bandwidth applications

Lufthansa says the connection can, in many cases, be faster than the internet connection passengers have at home or in their offices. The technology uses Starlink’s low-Earth-orbit satellite network, which is designed to provide higher bandwidth and lower latency than many conventional satellite-based aircraft connectivity systems.

Is Lufthansa Starlink Wi-Fi free? 

Yes, for eligible passengers. Lufthansa Group Wi-Fi is available free of charge to Miles & More members and Travel ID users, regardless of travel class. That means eligible passengers in Economy can use the service just like passengers in premium cabins. Passengers need to sign in using their Travel ID or Miles & More membership to access the complimentary service.

Does it work in every cabin?

Yes. Lufthansa says the new Wi-Fi is available across all travel classes, from Economy through First Class, on aircraft equipped with the system. The important distinction is that not every Lufthansa aircraft has Starlink yet. The rollout is still in its early stages.

How many Lufthansa aircraft will get Starlink?

The project is much larger than the initial A320neo launch. Lufthansa Group plans to equip approximately 850 aircraft across its airlines with Starlink by 2029. The company says this would make Lufthansa Group the largest airline group in Europe to deploy this high-speed connectivity technology across such a large fleet. The rollout will cover both existing aircraft and new aircraft entering the fleet.

Which airlines will get Starlink?

The technology is being introduced across the wider Lufthansa Group. The airlines preparing for the rollout include:

When will more Lufthansa aircraft get Starlink?

Lufthansa says up to 10 additional A320-family aircraft operated by Lufthansa and Lufthansa City Airlines are planned to receive the technology during 2026. Installations are primarily being carried out at Lufthansa Technik in Berlin, with the work coordinated with scheduled aircraft maintenance and technical inspections to reduce downtime. The broader rollout will then continue across the Lufthansa Group fleet.

Can passengers stream movies and videos?

Yes. The new connection is specifically designed to support video streaming and other bandwidth-intensive services. Lufthansa says passengers can watch content, work in the cloud and use other high-speed applications during the flight. However, Lufthansa has established onboard usage rules to keep the cabin environment comfortable.

Passengers are asked to:

• Use headphones when watching videos or listening to audio.
• Avoid voice calls and video calls.
• Avoid live streaming from the aircraft.

The restrictions are intended to prevent passengers’ internet use from disturbing other travelers.

Can passengers use multiple devices?

Lufthansa’s current Wi-Fi information says passengers can use the service on all their devices, providing flexibility for people carrying phones, tablets and laptops. The system is intended to provide a continuous connection from departure through arrival on equipped flights.

Can passengers check whether their flight has Starlink?

Not yet in a comprehensive way. Lufthansa currently says the service is available only on selected aircraft and flights, and it is gradually being rolled out. At the beginning of the rollout, passengers cannot yet reliably check availability before a flight. Lufthansa says a flight-search function will be introduced as the service becomes available on more aircraft. So simply booking a Lufthansa flight does not currently guarantee Starlink Wi-Fi.

What happens to FlyNet?

Lufthansa is effectively moving toward a new connectivity experience through Lufthansa Group Wi-Fi powered by Starlink. The airline’s current internet overview lists two onboard options:

1. Lufthansa Group Wi-Fi powered by Starlink
2. FlyNet

The new Starlink-based service is being progressively introduced while the fleet is upgraded.

Passengers receive dedicated airport check-in, priority boarding and an increased checked baggage allowance on eligible fares. The onboard experience includes a welcome drink, enhanced dining and charging facilities. 

Qantas Premium Economy 

Qantas offers a separate premium economy cabin on eligible Boeing 787 Dreamliners and Airbus A380s. Its seats provide more width and legroom than regular economy. Each seat includes an adjustable headrest, footrest, storage space and charging ports. Passengers may also receive priority check-in, priority boarding, upgraded meals, noise-canceling headphones and an amenity kit.

Singapore Airlines Premium Economy

Singapore Airlines offers Premium Economy on selected Airbus A350, A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft. Its seats include calf and footrests, personal storage, charging ports and large entertainment screens. A major benefit is the airline’s “Book the Cook” service. Premium Economy passengers on eligible flights can reserve a main course before departure. The airline also provides priority check-in, boarding and baggage handling. 

Emirates Premium Economy

Emirates Premium Economy features leather seats, adjustable headrests, calf rests and footrests. Passengers also receive large pillows and spacious dining tables. The airline serves multicourse meals on china tableware with stainless steel cutlery. Its beverage menu includes sparkling wine and other premium selections. Emirates plans to expand its Premium Economy network to 99 destinations by the end of 2026. Availability will depend on the route and aircraft.

British Airways World Traveler Plus

British Airways calls its premium economy cabin “World Traveler Plus.” It provides a smaller, separate cabin with wider seats, greater recline and additional legroom. Seats include adjustable headrests, footrests and in-seat power. Most routes also include priority boarding and an additional checked bag.

Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) ranked among the world’s busiest airports in 2025, according to the latest passenger traffic data from Airports Council International (ACI). The airport handled 78,148,081 passengers in 2025, securing the 11th position globally. It was also the only Indian airport to appear in the top 20. Passenger traffic at Delhi increased from about 77.8 million in 2024 to 78.15 million in 2025, a 0.42% year-over-year increase. ACI’s methodology includes both arriving and departing passengers. Transit passengers are counted only once, ensuring a consistent comparison among airports worldwide.

Delhi Airport Beats Seoul, Los Angeles and Paris 

Delhi ranked just behind Denver International Airport, which handled 82,427,962 passengers and took 10th place. The Indian airport recorded higher passenger traffic than several major international gateways:

• Seoul Incheon (ICN): 74,126,912
• Los Angeles International (LAX): 73,709,594
• Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG): 72,029,407

Delhi handled about 4.02 million more passengers than Seoul, 4.44 million more than Los Angeles and 6.12 million more than Paris. Beijing Capital International Airport, which ranked 15th, recorded 70,742,712 passengers.

Atlanta Remains the World’s Busiest Airport 

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) retained the top position in 2025 with 106,302,208 passengers. Atlanta has been the world’s busiest airport for most years since 1998, except during the pandemic period when travel restrictions affected global passenger volumes.

Dubai International Airport (DXB) ranked second with 95,192,160 passengers, followed by Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND), which handled 91,679,814. Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) completed the top five.

Delhi was the only airport from India to rank among the world’s 20 busiest airports based on total passenger traffic. Its position reflects the scale of air travel through India’s capital and the airport’s role as a major domestic and international gateway. Delhi connects travelers to destinations across North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, while also serving a large domestic market.

Global Airport Traffic Reaches 9.8 Billion 

ACI estimates that airports worldwide handled approximately 9.8 billion passengers in 2025. Global passenger traffic increased by 3.7% compared with 2024 and was 6.5% higher than the 2019 pre-pandemic level.
