The Mumbai Women\u2019s International Film Festival 2014<\/strong> is the second edition of this event, held in honor of women filmmakers from across the globe. In India,<\/strong> MWIFF is the first biggest celebration of women\u2019s role in filmmaking on international levels.<\/strong> \u00a0This year, 126 cities across 62 countries submitted a total of 457 films for screening in the festival. Organized by Oculus Creations in collaboration with Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation, MWIFF 2014 will commence on December 6 and continue till December 13. The movies to be screened across theaters during the MWIFF have been shortlisted and finalized.<\/p>\n

Though German Cinema is the focus of Mumbai Women\u2019s International Film Festival in 2014<\/strong>, a fair number of women filmmakers from the United States and Canada are participating in different \u201cCompetition\u201d categories. Apart from the 41 German Films, a host of English films by women directors in the United States and Canada will add to the dynamism of the celebration. The four \u201cCompetition\u201d categories are Short Films, Short Documentary Film, Full Length Documentary Film, and Feature Film<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have got good response to our effort to promote women filmmakers and their talent on a global platform despite the fact that Mumbai Women\u2019s International Film Festival is just one year old. The number of film submissions and women filmmakers intending to participate in the festival has increased by many times this year. The quality of the films submitted and nominated for screening is also commendable,\u201d commented Programming Director Mr. Chintan Kuvadia<\/strong>. He was vocal about the creativity and innovation as highlights of MWIFF 2014.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Filmmakers meet Filmmakers\u201d session is the added attraction of MWIFF 2014<\/strong>. The participating and the guest filmmakers will interact with the audience in the session. Eminent Bollywood filmmakers like Reema Kagti, Zoya Akhtar and Farah Khan are supposed to address the session<\/strong> along with other regional and international filmmakers. Another attraction for the aspiring filmmakers is the Industry Conference Program with focus on such topics of discussion as \u2018Sales and distribution of films\u2019, \u2018Online distribution,\u2019 \u2018Growth of Digital Cinema,\u2019 etc.<\/p>\n

The jury for Mumbai Women\u2019s International Film Festival<\/strong> consists of some renowned names in world cinema. They are director Nupur Asthana<\/strong>, writer Manisha Korde<\/strong>, writer Shibani Bhatija<\/strong>, writer Deepa Bhatia<\/strong>, writer & director Devika Bhagat<\/strong>, director & producer Shivendra Singh Dungarpur<\/strong>, producer Mitchell Peck<\/strong>, cinematographer Nirmal Jani,<\/strong> and writer & director Olivier Delahaye<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
