“The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost, one of my favorite poems in school, continues to inspire me to take offbeat decisions and make unconventional choices even today. That’s why I chose to travel with Ethiopian Airlines rather than popular airlines for my recently completed round trip to India,” said Chandrika Bannerjee from the US.

You might be wondering what piqued my interest in exploring Ethiopian Airlines fare deals. It is the airline’s hub – Addis Ababa – a historical city with modern landscapes. My urge to visit Addis Ababa propelled me to google whether Ethiopian Airlines has a stopover program. On my previous trips to India, I made stopovers in Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, and Istanbul; some were free while some were paid.

I came across the free Addis Ababa stopover guide from my travel-booking partner, IndianEagle.com. I must say the stopover program is irresistible. Ethiopian Airlines offers complimentary hotel stay and meals during a layover of 8 hours or more. Interestingly, both US citizens and Indians are eligible for a free stopover in the Ethiopian capital. Economy class travelers are offered one-day hotel stay outside Addis Ababa Bole International Airport.

Unlike at other connecting airports, you don’t need to rent a sleeping pod or spend additionally for a lounge at ADD Bole Airport. You can spend the layover (if minimum 8 hours) relaxing at a decent hotel outside the airport if you don’t feel like exploring Addis Ababa City. Other than free meal vouchers, the airline provides complimentary shuttle service to the hotel and back to the airport. However, I could not but tour the city during an 11-hour layover in my itinerary.

The free stopover was like a cherry on the cake. To be honest, I could not resist Ethiopian Airlines economy fares, Washington DC IAD to Mumbai, which I found the cheapest for a round trip even in August, the busy summer travel season 2025. It was a little more than $650 for a round trip – the best phone-only deal from my air-ticketing partner, Indian Eagle. This US-based agency offers unpublished fares from its airline partners as unmissable phone-only deals at +1800-615-3969.
