It is being expected that <em>The Good Road<\/em> as India\u2019s official entry to the world\u2019s most prestigious award Oscars in the global cinema will promote <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.indianeagle.com\/travelbeats\/tag\/gujarat\/\">Gujarat<\/a> tourism<\/strong> abroad.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.indianeagle.com\/travelbeats\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/india-is-sanguine-about-its-entry-the-good-road-to-oscars.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2096\" src=\"https:\/\/www.indianeagle.com\/travelbeats\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/india-is-sanguine-about-its-entry-the-good-road-to-oscars.jpg\" alt=\"list of indian movies in oscars, The Good Road for Oscars, NRIs news, cheap flights to India\" width=\"540\" height=\"341\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As many as 22 movies from different language speaking regions of India were in competition to go to the 86th Academy Awards. The films like Rakesh Omprakash Mehra\u2019s <strong><em>Bhaag Milkha Bhaag<\/em><\/strong> starring Farhan Akhtar in the lead, Gauri Shinde\u2019s <strong><em>English Vinglish<\/em><\/strong> starring Sri Devi in the lead, Ritesh Batra\u2019s <em><strong>The Lunchbox<\/strong><\/em> starring Irfan Khan in the lead, Koushik Ganguli\u2019s <em><strong>Shabdo<\/strong><\/em>, and Kamal Hasan\u2019s <strong><em>Vishwaroopam<\/em><\/strong> were strong contenders. The final selection of The Good Road for the Oscars is an unanimous decision by the 19-member jury benched by eminent personalities including <strong>Goutam Ghosh<\/strong>, an eminent Bengali filmmaker, from different niches of Indian Cinema.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Of 22 movies on the shortlist, <em>The Lunchbox<\/em> was a strong competitor. But, <em>The Good Road<\/em> has been chosen over <em>The Lunchbox<\/em> because of the former\u2019s story that explores the unknown India through the journey of a boy. The directorial debut by Gyan Correa, <em>The Good Road<\/em> has the makings of a documentary too. To say in the director\u2019s words, the movie is a documentary style road drama, and the story is a slice of life.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 2012, Anurag Basu\u2019s <strong><em>Barfi!<\/em><\/strong> Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in the lead was nominated as India\u2019s official entry for the Oscars. Ashutosh Gowariker\u2019s <strong><em>Lagaan<\/em><\/strong> starring Amir Khan (released in 2002) was the last Indian movie to have made its way to the list of final nominees in the Best Foreign Film category at the Academy Award. The other Indian films from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indianeagle.com\/travelbeats\/tag\/bollywood\/\">Bollywood<\/a> shortlisted for the top five were Mehboob Khan\u2019s <strong><em>Mother India<\/em><\/strong> and Mira Nair\u2019s <em><strong>Salaam Bombay<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">India is sanguine of its entry, <em>The Good Road<\/em>, to the Oscars.
