Hi Stephania! You need to update your new passport details on the OCI portal. Since you got late, you need to pay a late fee of $25.

Hi, I hold an OCI card since 2015. I thought OCI cards are for life.
I renewed my US passport in January 2025. What do I need to do with regard to my OCI card?

Hi Mr Jeetendra! We made the correction following your suggestion. Unlike others, we know OCI and NRI are two different categories. We try our best not to mix up them. Thank you for following Indian Eagle!

Passports have Expiry date therefore requires RENEWAL, however, OCI is Lifelong with NO Expiry date and, so, either requires UPDATE (that’s thankfully free & Online for changes to Passport, address & occupation) OR requires REISSUANCE (fee applies) and after application submitted to FRRO or VFS, the holder is issued a fresh OCI book with revised details and old OCI is returned cancelled.
Finally, everyone in travel & banking trades MUST stop referring to OCI holders as NRI; that’s not only ridiculous but illogical, because NRI are Citizens of India whereas OCI are foreign citizens of India Origin (lawfully, India doesn’t allow dual citizenship).
Thank you.

Do we need to get our marriage certificate apostilled along with her birth certificate too?
